9. With regard to local Banks, there are 69 local

institutions actually carrying on banking business in

Palestine under the Banking Ordinance, 1921/1922 and the Credit Banks Ordinance, 1920/1922, of which 55 are

incorporated as Companies, 10 as Co-operative Societies

and 4 function as Credit Banks. According to the date of

incorporation they may be grouped as under:-

APPENDIX "C"

Of these Banks, 8 are possessed of paid-up capital, or

in the case of Co-operative Societies, "own funds", of

£P.25,000 or more, 6 of paid-up capital varying between

EP.10,000 and £P.25,000, and 42 have less than £P.10,000

paid-up capital; and in the case of the remaining 13

Banks, their date of incorporation is too recent for them

to have submitted returns to the Registrar of Companies

under the Banking Ordinance.

10. The following comparative figures have been

obtained from 56 returns for the year 1933 submitted to

the Registrar of Companies, a summary of which is attached:-
